Sindh on high alert for Chehlum as security tightened

KARACHI: Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Wednesday reviewed security, traffic management and civic arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Home Secretary, Advocate General, IG, Commissioner Karachi, AIG Karachi, CTD officials, Special Branch DIG, representatives of Pakistan Rangers Sindh, KMC, Water Board and Rescue 1122.
Police and Rangers officials, district administration officials and officials of other departments briefed the Home Minister regarding arrangements for security, traffic management and civic arrangements of processions and religious congregations.
Home Minister Lanjar issued directives to the concerned officials to make sure that all the arrangements are made in an effective manner, especially for the security plan which should be made after close coordination among all the institutions.
Lanjar also directed the officials to re-evaluate the arrangements for major processions and congregations, directing the officials to improve intelligence based surveillance, searches and sweep and snap checking of the participants of processions and gatherings.
