In a major relief for commuters, Karachi's administration has abolished parking fees on 32 roads out of 106 in Karachi, according to an official notification issued by the Karachi Municipal Corporation. 

The notification stated that parking will now be free on designated roads and municipal locations, including three in the South District and two in the Kemari District. Five locations in the Central District, seven in Malir and Korangi combined, and 15 sites in the East District have also been declared free of parking charges.

According to a notification, from Jilani Centre Mobile Market and Naz Plaza to Amna Tower, and from Kausar Medico to MW Tower parking fee would not be charged on MA Jinnah Road.

Similarly, at Hub River Road from Sharjah Mall to Kohinoor Hall, KPT Area from Gate No1 to Shell Pump, and in Central District from Haroon Shopping Mall, Serena Market, SM Tawfiq Road (Liaquatabad Supermarket to Liaquatabad No. 10), parking of motor vehicles will be free.

Chase Superstore at Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Centrum Mall at Rashid Minhas Road, Kifayah, and Omega Mall in North Karachi KMC and its sub corporation wouldn’t charge the fee.

However, the notification clarified that fixed parking fees will continue at 11 boundary wall lots located in the South, Central, and East districts.

Officials say the move aims to ease congestion, reduce illegal parking charges, and facilitate public access to key commercial zones.
