The Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD) on Friday issued an urban flooding warning for Karachi in light of expected torrential rains in the port city.

In the recent weather advisory, the Met Office said that a wind system will enter Pakistan from Bengal, which is expected to bring scattered heavy falls in Karachi and other parts of Sindh from August 25-29.

Under the influence of the system, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sajawal, Nagarparkar, Tharparkar, and Umar Kot are likely to receive heavy rain.

“Upper areas of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to experience heavy downpours, which could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of the provinces,” said the Met department.

However, prior to rain, the weather will remain hot and humid until the next three days in the metropolis, while there are some chances of drizzling in coastal areas.

The temperature will remain at 34°C to 36°C while the sea breeze will remain active in the megapolis.

Currently, the winds are blowing from the Southwest direction at a speed of 18 kilometre per hour with a 78 percent humidity level.
