Karachi braces for more heavy rain with thunderstorm today

Following moderate to heavy rain in the port city, a weather analyst predicted that more thundershowers are likely to hit Karachi today (August 28).

Thundercells may start forming in the afternoon in the metropolis, said weatherman Jawad Memon in a Facebook post.

However, heavy rain may start lashing the megapolis after 3:00pm.

According to a prediction by the Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD), more rain and thunderstorms are expected in Karachi under the depression forming in Nagar Parker, which is anticipated to shift towards the port city within a few hours.

Chief meteorologist Sarfaraz said the provincial capital would receive moderate to heavy rain today and will continue until August 31.

A day earlier, parts of Karachi received moderate to heavy downpours, which turned the weather pleasant.

The winds were blowing from the north direction at the speed of 14 kilometres per hour with a 92 percent humidity level.

Sindh government has imposed a rain emergency across the city. Heavy machinery has been placed in the city to drain the rainwater.
