Karachi Police on Tuesday suspended a female constable from the South Zone for filming a TikTok video while on duty.
The disciplinary action was taken after the video went viral on social media.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza took notice of the viral video and issued orders to suspend the lady constable.
According to reports, the female cop was identified as Maria Gill. She was previously stationed at Ghazri Police Station.
DIG Raza has sought a report from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), South Zone.
The police shared the video of the female constable on their Instagram account, stating, 'The police is a professional organisation, and no one will be allowed to engage in such irresponsible behavior.'
The poliewoman filmed the TikTok video while stationed at Mai Kolachi Road in the port city.
In the video, her colleagues could be seen sitting at a bus stop in the background.
She invited her followers to come and meet her while she was on duty.
“As you can see, the entire team is present here, and that’s my bike parked over there. If anyone wants to meet me, they can come here,” she said in the video.
While speaking to Arab News, DIG South Syed Asad Raza stated that Maria also “endangered lives and privacy of her fellow colleagues.” However, he did not specify the duration of her suspension.
