Karachi's temperature may rise to 42°C from today

The sweltering heat will continue to grip the metropolis for the next three days as mercury is likely to cross 40°C in Karachi from today, said the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) on Wednesday.
In the latest advisory, the Met Office predicted that the temperature may fluctuate between 40-42°C in the port city from May 29 till June 1.
“Heatwave conditions are likely to grip Karachi divisions, Thatta, Badin and Sujawal districts from today till June 1, with daytime maximum temperatures rising to 40-42°C in Karachi and 42-44°C in Thatta Badin and Sujawal during the period," the weather department said.
According to weather analyst Jawad Memon, the temperature in Karachi is expected to hover between 39-41°C today (May 29).
Citizens are advised to take precautionary measures, avoid unnecessary outings, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated during heatwave-like conditions.
A day earlier, Sindh's Jacoabad recorded the highest temperature of 52°C.
On the other hand, weatherman Owais Hyder forecast the "hottest week of the year" in Karachi this week.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also predicted a longer-than-usual monsoon season this year in the metropolitan city from July to August.
