The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather for Karachi and most parts of Sindh in the coming days, attributing the change to a depression over the Arabian Sea.

In a weather advisory issued on Friday, the PMD said temperatures are expected to rise slightly over the next three days as the depression has been moving northeast over the past 24 hours, influencing weather conditions in southern Pakistan.

According to the department, the system is located about 712 kilometres from Karachi and around 330 kilometres from Gujarat, India. However, it does not pose any threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas.

The Met Office added that the weather system is expected to weaken within the next 24 hours, leading to lighter winds in Karachi. Winds from the northeast may blow at speeds ranging between 10 and 15 kilometres per hour.

The PMD further stated that weather across most districts of Sindh is likely to remain hot and dry, while partly cloudy conditions are expected in the province’s southeastern coastal areas.
