KMC has announced that special needs children will now get free admission to the city’s zoo.

Karachi mayor, Murtuza Wahab issued immediate instructions to zoo officials to abolish the entry fee for children with special needs. He claimed that these children are a “valuable asset” of society and urged the community to support inclusive public spaces.

According to reports, the move aims to make recreational facilities more accessible for children with disabilities and ensure they can enjoy outings with their families without any entry charges.

Furthermore, Wahab highlighted that the Sindh government continues to prioritise initiatives for special children, including programs focused on education, skill development, assistive tools and appropriate learning curriculam.

Prior to this decision, the standard entry fee was Rs 30 for children and Rs 50 for adults, with proceeds helping fund improvements and maintenance of the facility.

Moreover, the mayor has also initiated upgrades in zoo facilities, with recent projects including new animal enclosures, renovated public spaces and improved visitor infrastructure.
