A government college in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has banned female students from participating in 'extracurricular activities' within and outside the educational institution.

A notification was issued by the Government Postgraduate College Timergara, Lower Dir, on April 29.

However, the matter came to light on Monday (today) when several social media users shared a letter criticising college administrations for their biased behaviour.

"All the female students of this institution are directed in no uncertain words not to take part in any extra-curricular activities, including political functions, birthday parties, outings, unjustified and unauthorised stage-ins etc," the letter issued by the college read.

"During college hours both within and outside the college premises; once you leave your respective homes for the college, you are expected to be either in the college or on the way to and from the college, no third posibility is there," it added.

The institution also instructed parents of female students to remain in touch with the college administration.

"Furthermore, parents of all students, especially female students are requested to remain in touch with the college administration in order to improve the academic standards of the college."
