KP govt announces public holiday on 1st Muharram

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government declared a public holiday on the 1st of Muharram.
A notification regarding this decision was issued by the KP administration department.
In a separate development, the district administration in Gilgit has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for two months to maintain peace and security during the holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram.
The central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on July 6 in Quetta to sight the Muharram moon, marking the beginning of the new Islamic calendar.
The meeting will be chaired by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
Additionally, zonal committees will also meet on the same day in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar for the moon sighting.
