Punjab police personnel in Lahore kidnapped a Sindh-based businessman, subjected him to torture, and demanded a hefty ransom. They also threatened to kill the victim if their extortion demands weren't met.

Mushtaq Ahmed, hailing from Sukkur, was stopped and forcibly abducted at gunpoint on April 29 by men in police uniform on Lahore's Abbot Road. The victim was whisked away to a secret location.

A police official said the victim was subjected to torture and threatened to be killed in a police encounter.

Surveillance cameras captured the shocking abduction of Mushtaq, revealing a brazen crime perpetrated by uniformed police personnel. The CCTV footage showed two officers, clad in police attire, forcibly taking Mushtaq to the ATM on the bike.

The chilling footage further revealed at least five police personnel stopped her at Nila Gunbad in Anarkali Bazar, took him to an ATM, and callously demanded ransom money worth Rs100,000 from the victim.

The video showed the police personnel standing outside the bank while the victim was sent to the ATM. When he returned, they robbed him of all his money and escaped after leaving him on the road.

The case was registered on the complaint of the businessman in Anarkali police station against five police personnel, but they have not been arrested so far.

According to the police, the raids were being conducted to arrest them.
