Lahore police arrested seven individuals, including four police officers and three women, for their alleged involvement in a honey trap scheme and extortion, authorities said.
The police said suspects, including Asim, Waqas, Abrar, Ahmed, Noreen Kiran and Fareeha, were apprehended from Kot Lakhpat with the help of social media tracking.
The women suspects lured victims by befriending them on social media and later invited them to rented flats at different locations, where they were tortured and filmed.
According to police, the suspects recorded explicit videos of the victims during the torture and then demanded large sums of money, threatening to release the footage online if they refused to pay.
Moreover, this gang has trapped more than 50 people so far.

Seven mobile phones, handcuffs, pistols, Rs55,000 in cash and other items were recovered from the suspects. The operation was conducted using social media tracking, mobile phone surveillance, and modern technology.
Earlier, in July 2024, a similar case was reported in Okara, where a landlord fell victim to an elaborate honey trap orchestrated by his tenant, Mafiya Bibi.
The police had reported that Mafiya Bibi allegedly extorted a sum of 200,000 rupees from the landlord, Abdul Ghaffar, by luring him into a trap.
The incident unfolded when Mafiya Bibi, under the pretence of paying her rent, invited Abdul Ghaffar to her residence. Unbeknownst to him, this was a calculated move to ensnare him in a blackmail scheme. Upon his arrival, Mafiya Bibi summoned her accomplices, who were dressed in police uniforms, creating a façade of authority and intimidation.
