The floods in Chilas affected not only the tourists but also the impoverished residents of the hilly Babu Sar Thak Nala region. Many locals lost their mud homes, motorcycles, and other belongings.

Police, district administration, and residents worked together to rescue tourists trapped under debris and rocks, moving them to safer locations.

They provided food and even accommodated several visitors in their homes.
