In an attempt to boost bilateral ties between the two countries, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is expected to visit Pakistan in the first week of October, said diplomatic sources.

According to sources, the anticipated visit will begin from October 2 and continue till October 4.

It will be the first visit of the Malaysian prime minister to Pakistan in five years, with the last visit by former premier Mahathir Muhammad in March 2019, during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Ibrahim will come with a high-level delegation, as the diplomatic sources said that several agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) are expected to be signed between the two countries.

During the visit, PM Ibrahim will meet his Pakistani counterpart PM Shehbaz Sharif and officials in Pakistan.

The visit aims to enhance bilateral ties through trade and investment from two sides of different sectors.

Meanwhile, the Palestine issue is expected to be focused on the meeting, as both Pakistan and Malaysian top leaders are strong advocates of the two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

“The two leaders also agreed to hold the next meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad soon,” Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

“The prime minister extended his invitation to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to pay an official visit to Pakistan.”
