Man held for stealing cash, jewellery from Chinese national's house in Karachi's Clifton

Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested the main suspect allegedly involved in robbery at the residence of a Chinese national in the Karachi's Clifton area.
According to a statement issued by the Malir City police, the arrest was made during an intelligence-based raid in the Malir area. The suspect is said to be the ringleader of the gang behind such crimes.
Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said the suspect had a history of theft and robbery in various parts of the city, adding that he was hiding in Malir and was arrested during a targeted raid.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect’s wife was also involved in the robbery. She would work as a maid in different houses, where she would gather information, and then robbery is carried out.
The suspect allegedly looted cash, jewellery, and other valuables worth around Rs1 million from the home of Xu Baosheng, the Chinese citizen living in Clifton.

Police said the couple used disguises to commit the crimes and would flee to different areas afterward.
An FIR has been registered at the Clifton police station under Sections 381 (theft) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Raids are ongoing to trace other suspects involved, and further investigation is under way.
