Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has said former Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed and Ex-Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa defamed the party.
“Being a lawyer, I cannot approve of Gen Faiz and Bajwa’s acts as Chiefs, they victimised political opponents, harassed them, and lodged cases against them,” he expressed his views while speaking on Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’.
PTI lawmaker’s statement came after the detention of the former spyman by the military over allegations of misuse of authority and violating the Army Act.
Marwat further claimed that PTI was blamed for Gen Hameed's malpractices, even though the "party did not receive benefits from him".
He said the duo had caused more harm to the party than any good.
The outspoken PTI stalwart noted that Imran Khan had doubts about Gen Hameed’s character.
Meanwhile, Marwat also opposed the decision to bring back TTP militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and linked it with instability in the province.
“They [TTP militants] should have been properly rehabilitated as 70% of the province is facing lawlessness."
