Maryam Nawaz, Begum Kulsoom included in 10th grade curriculum

The images of Maryam Nawaz and her mother Kulsoom Nawaz have been included in the 10th-grade curriculum in Punjab.

The spokesperson for the Education Department confirmed the inclusion of Maryam Nawaz and Kulsoom Nawaz’s images in the curriculum. Maryam Nawaz is recognized as Punjab’s first female Chief Minister in the curriculum.

Maryam Nawaz is featured in the “Successful Women” section in Chapter 8, Page 163, of the Pakistan Studies textbook.

According to the Education Department’s spokesperson, just like Fatima Jinnah, Nusrat Bhutto, and Fahmida Mirza, the names and images of Maryam Nawaz and Kulsoom Nawaz have been published.

The revised textbook is currently in the printing phase and will be part of the curriculum for the new Pakistan Studies 2025 academic year. The online version of the new textbook is also available.

In a major change to Punjab’s education system, new groups have been added to the matriculation subjects. The new groups include Allied Health Sciences, Agriculture, Information Technology, and Entrepreneurship.

These new groups will be taught starting from the new academic year. Secretary of Schools Education Punjab, Khalid Nazir, stated that schools teaching Health Sciences will be located near DHQ and THQ hospitals.

He also mentioned that the total marks for matric exams will remain 1100. Students will choose their subject groups at the beginning of the 9th grade.

The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has introduced revised syllabi for seven subjects for ninth-grade students. The updated books, now available in both English and Urdu mediums, allow students to choose their preferred language. Previously, the curriculum was offered only in English.
