Renowned religious scholar, former Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader, and ex-Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, has remarried at the age of 92.

The simple yet graceful ceremony took place in Islamabad, attended by close relatives, religious scholars, and other prominent personalities.

Guests extended heartfelt congratulations and prayers to the veteran cleric as he embarked on a new chapter in life.

Maulana Sherani’s first wife passed away in September last year, after which he had been living alone.

The news of his marriage quickly spread across religious and social circles, drawing mixed reactions online — with many praising him as a “lively personality”, while others expressed good wishes, saying, “May Allah bless his new life.”

Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani is a Pakistani Deobandi religious cleric and politician who established Rabita Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam the breakway faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) over rifts with (JUI-F) leader Fazal-ur-Rehman.

He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, between 1988 and May 2018. He was the Chairman of the influential Council of Islamic Ideology from 2010 to 2016.
