Renowned journalist Mehdi Hasan clapped back at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hina Parvez Butt after she accused him of conducting a “paid” interview of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Hina took to X to highlight a “paid” option on the website that published Mehdi Hasan’s interview with Imran Khan, alleging that it was a sponsored tactic.
In response, the British-American journalist clarified that the "paid" option is for subscribers only and "does not imply the interview itself was paid".

This Pakistani politician from the governing party is pushing a conspiracy theory that I was "paid" to do my interview with Imran Khan.

"Paid" on the post below means it's a post only for paid subscribers to Zeteo.

“This Pakistani politician from the governing party is pushing a conspiracy theory that I was "paid" to do my interview with Imran Khan,” his post read on the microblogging site.
"Paid on the post below means it's a post only for paid subscribers to Zeteo,” he added.
Earlier today, the journalist shared an article containing an interview with Imran Khan.
In his memo penned for Zeteo, the anchor mentioned that it was no ordinary or normal interview due to Mr Khan's imprisonment at Adiala jail.
"I could only send a list of written questions for him to answer," Hasan said.
Responding to the questions, the 72-year-old politician majorly criticised the ex-top armyman for various reasons, including economic and political turmoil in the country, hatching a conspiracy to topple his government and painting him as an anti-American in front of the Biden administration.
