The port city is currently in the grip of a severe heatwave, with the maximum temperature expected to reach between 39°C and 41°C today, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The weather is forecasted to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours, with further intensification of heat anticipated in the coming days.

Health experts have urged citizens to exercise caution amid the rising temperatures, advising them to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity between 11 am and 4 pm.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted high temperatures in other cities as well. The mercury is expected to hit 41°C in Hyderabad, 42°C in Nawabshah, 40°C in Sukkur, 39°C in Multan, 38°C in Lahore, 33°C in Peshawar, and 24°C in Quetta.

Those venturing out in the heat, should follow these safety precautions to avoid heat-related health issues:

  • Avoid going outdoors unnecessarily between 12 pm and 4 pm.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and fluids.
  • Wear light, loose-fitting, and bright-colored clothing.
  • Pay extra attention to the needs of children, the elderly, and those who are unwell.
  • Cover your head and wear sunglasses when stepping out in the sun.
  • Spread awareness among others to ensure the safety of everyone during the heatwave.

In contrast, the upper regions of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and parts of Punjab, are expected to receive heavy rain and hailstorms until April 20.
