Miranshah assistant commissioner, three others martyred in Bannu attack

Miranshah Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali and three other people were martyred in an armed attack on the official’s vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district on Tuesday.

Two police officials were among those martyred in the attack.

According to Bilal Saqib, secretary to the assistant commissioner, the attack tool place around 10am as the officer was travelling to a court for hearing.

Citing sources, media reports said that the vehicle was ambushed near Masoomabad in the Mamash Khel area.

Saqib said the assault also claimed the life of a civilian working nearby, while two other police officials sustained injuries. He confirmed that a formal investigation has begun.

The reports said the attackers opened fire on the vehicle and later set it ablaze. They added that the assailants also seized weapons from the security personnel before escaping.

Miranshah, the administrative centre of North Waziristan, lies close to Bannu where the incident took place.
