A joint intelligence-based operation conducted by Pakistan Rangers Sindh and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) led to the arrest of Abdul Jabbar Sarki, a most-wanted militant linked to the banned Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), officials confirmed on Monday.

The authorities said they caught Sarki at a check post near Raees Goth on Hub River Road. He was going from Quetta to Karachi. When they searched him they found weapons, detonators, ball bearings, and explosive material from his possession during the operation.

Investigators allege that the suspect was planning attacks on sensitive locations in Karachi with the help of accomplices. Officials also claimed he remained in contact with SRA commander Sajjad Shah, who is accused of orchestrating multiple sabotage activities across Karachi and interior Sindh.

The authorities said Sarki joined the group in 2020. They think he was part of a grenade attack on a Rangers check post near Manzil Pump in June 2020. This attack hurt two civilians. Damaged the check post.

Officials further stated that the suspect conducted reconnaissance of an Independence Day stall in Gulshan-e-Hadeed ahead of August 14 celebrations as part of a planned terrorist activity.

The suspect’s name was listed in the CTD Red Book as a high-priority target. Rangers officials confirmed that the accused, along with the recovered weapons and explosives, has been handed over to CTD police for further legal proceedings and investigation.
