Police have issued an important advisory for tourists visiting Murree to enjoy its scenic beauty and snowfall.
According to APP, District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer Sipra said that while enjoying Murree’s natural beauty and snowfall is the right of tourists, ensuring their safety and secure travel remains the police’s top priority.
He said that with the onset of the season’s first snowfall in Murree, district police have been placed on high alert to protect visitors from any unforeseen situations and traffic difficulties.
Dr Sipra stated that he is personally overseeing all arrangements and has directed police personnel to treat tourists with courtesy and a spirit of cooperation.
Referring to the unusually high influx of tourists over the weekend, he said that a large number of visitors are still present even after the holidays, prompting further activation of the traffic management plan.
He warned that roads become slippery during snowfall and urged tourists to use snow chains on their vehicle tyres and avoid unnecessary overtaking.
The DPO stressed that parking vehicles on roadsides for photography during snowfall causes major disruptions to traffic flow and advised visitors to use designated parking areas only.
He also advised tourists to check the mechanical condition of their vehicles before travelling to Murree, particularly heaters, wipers and lights, and to ensure an adequate fuel supply.
Dr Sipra further instructed travellers to take special care of children and elderly passengers, keep vehicle windows slightly open to prevent oxygen deficiency, and in case of any emergency, accident or suspicious activity, immediately contact the police helpline at 15 or seek assistance from the nearest police check post.
