Hours before his murder, 23-year-old Mustafa Amir appeared before the anti-narcotics court in Karachi on January 6, in connection with a drug-related case. His name has now been dropped from the case. 

The investigating officer in the anti-narcotics court reported that Mustafa Amir was arrested on January 31, 2024. The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had registered a case against him.

He and a suspect named Noman Yaqoob were granted bail on March 20, 2024. 

As per reports, Mustafa Amir last appeared in court just hours before his murder on January 6, 2025. Despite his killing, the court issued arrest warrants for him on February 22. His name is no longer on the case.

Additionally, his two alleged accomplices, Mian Ammar Hameed and Faisal Yaqoob, were declared absconders.

According to the ANF investigation, Mustafa was arrested with 30 grammes of 'weed' and allegedly tried to send drugs from Karachi to Lahore using a courier service under the alias ‘Taimoor’.

The young boy went to meet his friend Armaghan on January 6, 2025, but he did not return home. His mother subsequently filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a disappearance case.

Mustafa’s parents accused Karachi police of conducting a negligent investigation and failing to take timely action against the accused to extract a confession. 

On February 8, the Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) conducted a raid on Armaghan's bungalow in Karachi’s Defence Khayaban-e-Momin area, suspects opened fire on law enforcement officers.

Suspects opened fire on law enforcement officers, injuring two officials, including a DSP during the operation. 

Police arrested Armaghan, who later admitted to torturing Mustafa and burning him alive in his own car at Dureji Hill.

Earlier, while recording his statement, witness Ghulam Mustafa, a guard in suspect Armughan’s house  identified, the main accused in the Karachi City Court and made some shocking revelations. 

Ghulam Mustafa testified that on January 6, a boy arrived at Armaghan's house at 9:00 pm. He opened the door for the visitor, who was wearing a t-shirt, trousers, and a jacket, but his face was not visible.

About an hour later, Ghulam Mustafa and his colleague heard sounds of swearing, followed by two or three gunshots. They came out of their room, but Ghulam Mustafa went back to try and sleep.

He further stated that Armaghan and his friend were present in the home at that time, and Ghulam Mustafa and his colleague were restricted from going upstairs. Armaghan would call them if he needed anything.

A few days later, when the police raided the bungalow, Ghulam Mustafa and his colleague were in their room. Upon hearing the sound of gunshots, they fled and hid. On February 10, when they returned to the bungalow to collect their belongings, they were apprehended by the police.
