PML-N seniour vice=president Maryam Nawaz has refuted the claims of party supremo Nawaz Sharif was steering away from politics, saying "he will supervise party's governments in federal and Punjab.
Taking to the microblogging site X, the PML-N chief organiser wrote:"If it is being assumed that Nawaz Sharif is staying away from politics by not accepting the Prime Minister post, then that assumption is not true."
"Over the next five years, he will not only engage in active politics but will also supervise his governments in the centre and Punjab," she added.
Maryam said that Nawaz had already clarified in his election speeches that he will 'not become a part of any coalition government'.
"Shehbaz Sharif and I are his [Nawaz] soldiers, bound by his directives, and will work under his leadership and supervision - may Allah grant us success. Amen," she concluded.
Her clarification came after Nawaz Sharif nominated his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif for the country's top post.
A day earlier, six political parties, including PML-N, PPP, MQM-P, PML-Q, IPP, and BAP, announced forming a coalition government to 'steer the country out of the prevailing crises.
Shehbaz Sharif was named the prime minister's candidate and Maryam Nawaz was nominated for the post of Punjab Chief Minister.
