The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of heavy rainfall across several regions of Pakistan within the next 24 hours, raising concerns about urban flooding and overflowing rivers and streams, particularly in low-lying areas.
According to an NDMA spokesperson, the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are expected to receive intermittent heavy showers over the next 24 to 48 hours. These downpours may significantly increase water levels in Nullah Lai, potentially causing flooding in adjacent residential areas.
Residents living near flood-prone zones have been advised to stay vigilant and prepare for possible evacuation.
The NDMA urged citizens to closely follow instructions from local authorities and to cooperate fully during any emergency response operations.
Precautionary measures are already being implemented by emergency services to deal with the anticipated weather conditions.

Lahore, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Khushab, Sargodha, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Hafizabad.
The NDMA cautioned that urban flooding in these areas may disrupt infrastructure and essential services. Relevant departments remain on high alert and are monitoring the situation closely.
