A recent report issued by law enforcement agencies has shed light on the growing drug crisis in Pakistan, revealing alarming figures.
According to health experts and law enforcement officials, 10.5 million Pakistanis are struggling with drug addiction.
The investigation, which spanned over 3,000 educational institutions and 2,000 offices, exposed the vulnerability of young people to drug abuse.
Shockingly, 3 million students are currently battling addiction, as per the report.
The easy availability of banned substances has contributed to this crisis, with 25 types of dangerous drugs and over 80 addictive pills, capsules, and alcoholic drinks in circulation.
The report also highlighted the involvement of some law enforcement personnel in the drug trade.
The report noted that almost 400 policemen and narcotics control personnel were sacked in the last five years for their involvement in drug trafficking.
However, government agencies have made significant strides in combating the issue.
Notably, the organisations have arrested 370 Riyadh-based drug gangs responsible for supplying drugs across Pakistan through international courier companies.
