A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) training aircraft crashed near Mardan on Sunday during a routine training mission, resulting in the martyrdom of two officers, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, the military's media wing said the aircraft met with an accident while carrying out a routine training flight in the Mardan area.

The officers martyred in the crash were identified as PAF Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah and Pakistan Navy Lieutenant Taha Abbasi.

ISPR said an inquiry board has been constituted by Air Headquarters to investigate the circumstances and causes of the accident.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic incident. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs.
