In an interview with RT Arabic, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif accused India of escalating regional tensions through what he described as “sponsored terrorism” and unsubstantiated allegations.

The military spokesperson said Pakistan's top priority remains peace, but recent events have forced a military response. He cited the incident in Pahalgam, where Indian authorities and media outlets blamed Pakistan without completing an investigation.

Pakistan had offered to cooperate with a neutral probe, but India reportedly declined and conducted air strikes targeting civilian areas, according to Lt Gen Sharif.

He stated that in response to Indian strikes on May 6–7, which reportedly killed over 30 civilians, the Pakistan Air Force downed five Indian jets. A second round of Indian missile attacks followed on May 9–10, to which Pakistan responded with targeted military action, avoiding civilian infrastructure.

The ISPR chief said the Pakistan Armed Forces acted with “restraint and responsibility,” striking only military installations. He praised the nation and military’s unified stance during the escalation and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.

Lt Gen Sharif also claimed that India supports terrorist activities inside Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan and through banned outfits such as the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
