In a historic move, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially inaugurated Pakistan's first hybrid double-decker buses, marking a significant milestone in the country's transportation history.

The eco-friendly initiative aims to provide modern and sustainable transportation solutions for metropolitan tourism across Punjab.

The inaugural fleet consists of five hybrid double-decker buses that will run on new routes in Lahore.

Three new tourist buses will be routed from Gaddafi Stadium to various tourist spots in Lahore, providing visitors with a convenient and environmentally friendly way to explore the city.

Additional buses will be allocated for Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi.

Moreover, double-decker bus services for tourism will also be launched in Multan and Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Rawalpindi.

During the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam inspected the buses and took a tour of the city along with her delegation.

The relevant authorities briefed Punjab's first woman CM on the project.

It's pertinent to mention here that the double-decker bus service was initially launched under the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) in November 2015 during the tenure of former CM Shehbaz Sharif.

The innovative step aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions, as seen in cities like London, which has successfully integrated low-emission buses into its public transportation system.
