While the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) described the glowing blue, orange, and yellow hues over Quetta’s night sky on October 28 as a rare lenticular cloud formation, journalist Absar Alam has claimed that the phenomenon was linked to the test of a "hypersonic ballistic missile".

In a vlog posted on his YouTube channel, Alam said that the unusual lights had sparked speculation about their origin, with many suggesting they were the trail of a missile test.

“I spoke to a reliable source connected with people working on Pakistan’s missile program. In fact, two reliable sources confirmed that Pakistan conducted a test of a hypersonic ballistic missile,” Alam said.

He added, “The missile’s speed was six times the speed of sound. It also appears to have advanced manoeuvring capabilities to evade defence systems. This is a major achievement for Pakistan and entirely indigenous. Its name has been finalised, though my sources did not disclose it.”

On Tuesday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that a rare lenticular cloud was observed over Koh-e-Murdaar, the eastern mountain range of Quetta, in the early hours of Oct 28.

According to the PMD, the distinctive lens-shaped cloud appeared shortly before sunrise on October 28 and lingered for about 20 minutes before fading as daylight broke.
