Karachi experienced light drizzle on Monday, bringing welcome relief from the prolonged dry weather as cloudy skies persisted throughout the city.
Reports indicate that areas including Saddar, North Nazimabad, Soldier Bazar, Defence, and Qayyumabad received light showers.
Meteorologists attributed the rainfall to a weak tail of a western disturbance, noting instability at lower and middle tropospheric levels that led to the formation of weak rainy clouds in the far western Arabian Sea.
Motorcyclists have been advised to exercise caution on wet roads. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall over the hills in the upper regions from February 19 to 21.
A frontal weather system is expected to enter northern Pakistan on February 19 and persist until February 21.
Additionally, light rain is predicted in several cities across southern Punjab, including Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and Bahawalnagar on February 19.
In Balochistan, rain, wind, thunderstorms, and hill snowfall are likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, and Musakhel from February 18 to 19. Authorities urge residents to take necessary precautions amid the expected inclement weather.
