The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast rain in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting tomorrow until June 13.

In an advisory issued on Wednesday, the PDMA said several parts of the province are expected to experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and intermittent rainfall. In view of the predicted weather, all district administrations have been placed on alert.

According to the advisory, rain and hailstorms are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, and Buner. Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad are also likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Similarly, districts including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Kohat, Kurram, and Orakzai are expected to experience windstorms and rain. Rainfall has also been forecast for Khyber, Bajaur, Mohmand, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, and Tank.

The PDMA warned of possible landslides in upper districts and flash flooding in streams and seasonal rivers, particularly in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Abbottabad, and Kohistan.

It further cautioned that urban flooding may occur in Peshawar, Mardan, and Nowshera, urging residents to take precautionary measures. Strong winds and hailstorms may also damage weak structures and electric poles, the advisory added.

The authority has directed farmers to take steps to protect crops, while district administrations and rescue services have been instructed to remain on standby for emergency response.
