PIA announces 20pc discount on tickets for students

In an effort to facilitate the students, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a discount for national students who want to come from China on vocation.

The offer from the national carrier came at a time when the government was mulling to privatise PIA due to the deficit. 

However, the state-owned news platform APP wrote that PIA offering a 20 percent discount for Pakistani students studying in China. 

The national carrier has also increased the baggage allowance up to 60 kilograms.

PIA operates one flight from Islamabad to Beijing, which brings students to Pakistan every Sunday.

APP quoted Ali Imran, a Pakistani researcher, who appreciated the decision, saying a large number of students were studying at different universities in China, and this discount offer would greatly facilitate them.

Earlier, the airlines had reduced 20pc and 30pc discounts for one-way fares for Umrah pilgrims and resident and work visa holders of Saudi Arabia, respectively. 

The discount was applicable from April 7 to 11 with passengers travelling from Pakistan to Jeddah and Madinah.
