PM Shehbaz, Turkish interior minister reaffirm commitment to strengthen bilateral ties

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye, Ali Yerlikaya, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

According to the state-run news agency APP, the meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, the Chairman of NDMA, and the Secretaries of Interior and Foreign Affairs were also present at the meeting.

Welcoming the Turkish minister and his delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the visit reflected the strong and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

The Prime Minister also conveyed a congratulatory message for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of security, counterterrorism, narcotics control, police training, disaster management, trade, and economic development.

The Prime Minister appreciated Türkiye’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s stance on key international issues and thanked the Turkish leadership for its role in facilitating peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Istanbul.

In response, Minister Ali Yerlikaya expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his warm hospitality, and conveyed a message of felicitation from President Erdoğan.

He also expressed Türkiye’s desire to deepen cooperation in law enforcement, intelligence sharing, and disaster management.
