Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the foreign guest at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting on Wednesday while showing an optimistic approach to “enhance regional peace and stability.”
In his opening remarks, the premier said, “It gives me immense pleasure to welcome our distinguished guest in Islamabad."
Addressing the quorum of global leaders at the 23rd SCO gathering in Islamabad's Jinnah Convention Centre, PM Sharif termed the meeting “a testament of ties and collaboration among the diverse nations".
“It is an honour for Pakistan to host this summit which represents the 40 percent population of the World.
“We have the potential to drive socio-economic progress, enhance regional peace and stability, to improve the quality of life over the citizen."
PM Shehbaz urged the attendees to use the opportunity in the meeting by sharing concrete action plans that will benefit the economy of the nations.
Prime Minister said he is seeking valuable discussion in the meeting and “hopeful for wonderful outcomes that will emerge from the in-depth deliberations."
The SCO comprises China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus, and sixteen countries affiliated as observers or dialogue partners.
