Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to arrive in the port city on Thursday, where he will hold meetings with members of the business community.
According to the reports, Premier Shehbaz is also scheduled to visit the Pakistan Stock Exchange along with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and others.
PM Shehbaz is expected to have a packed schedule in Karachi. He is set to visit the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to engage with key business stakeholders.
The Prime Minister will also visit the South Asia terminal to review the implementation of the fee-less system, which has been in effect since December 15.
It will be PM Shebaz's second visit to Karachi after the election. The announcement of the visit came amid growing concerns from coalition partners regarding the PML-N-led government for not consulting their ally party when making key decisions, including the establishment of the Pakistan Maritime and Seaport Authority.
Earlier, in a press conference, PPP spokesperson Shazia Marri made it clear that the government’s survival hinged on PPP’s support and that the government would collapse if that support was withdrawn.
In response, PML-N representative and Federal Minister for Development and Planning Ahsan Iqbal visited Karachi, downplaying the reservations as minor disagreements. He described such differences as a routine occurrence in coalition governments.
