PML-N claims majority in AJK as PM Shehbaz congratulates party leadership

PM Shehbaz congratulated PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, party workers and successful candidates after the party secured a commanding lead in the second phase of AJK Legislative Assembly elections.

In a statement, the PM said the party’s performance reflected the hard work of Nawaz Sharif and the entire PML-N team. 

He reiterated that the development, prosperity and welfare of the people of AJK would remain among the government’s top priorities.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, PM’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah claimed the PML-N had secured a simple majority in the 45-member AJK Legislative Assembly after winning 23 seats so far. 

He expressed confidence that the PML-N would further strengthen its position in the remaining phase of polling.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam described the election outcome as a victory for democracy, praising the Election Commission, administration and security institutions for ensuring the successful conduct of polling. 

The PML-N leadership also rejected allegations of election rigging made by the PPP, insisting the polls were conducted in a free and transparent manner. Meanwhile, rival parties have continued to raise concerns over the electoral process.
