Police teams reach PTI Secretariat to arrest Hammad Azhar

Teams of police on Wednesday reached PTI's central secretariat to arrest former federal minister Hammad Azhar, who reappeared on the public scene on Wednesday after almost a year in hiding.

A video shared from the PTI X handle showed police party outside the party's office to arrest Azhar.

Police officers have been deployed around the central office of PTI, Pakistan's biggest political party, in order to arrest @Hammad_Azhar. This is a highly shameful and condemnable act!

Azhar, a former finance minister under the PTI government, had disappeared from the public scene after the state launched a crackdown against the party leadership last year following the incidents of May 9.

“I received a message from Imran Khan last night after the attack on Rauf Hassan. He directed that it is now time for me to join the party leadership,” he said after showing up at the party central secretariat Islamabad today

“I have come to meet Rauf Hassan today. I will then go to Peshawar and seek interim bails and request more time. I will also appear in Punjab courts and will then leave the matter to the Almighty.”
