President Asif Ali Zardari, during a meeting in Sukkur, outlined a comprehensive approach to addressing the law and order situation in Sindh, particularly in the Katcha Area.
He emphasized the need to integrate non-hardened criminals into mainstream society through rehabilitation programs, while advocating stern action against those involved in serious crimes.
The president underscored the importance of enhancing infrastructure in Kacha Areas, focusing on roads, health facilities, and education to uplift socio-economic conditions. He suggested convening a qaumi jirga of tribal leaders to engage with local communities, aiming to restore peace, discourage criminal activities, promote disarmament, and improve overall security.
Updates provided during the meeting highlighted positive developments in reducing crime rates, particularly in Karachi and the Katcha Areas, attributed to effective strategies implemented by police and Rangers.
Sindh IG Police Ghulam Nabi reported a significant decrease in dacoity incidents and highway crimes, crediting targeted operations and smart camera installations for identifying and apprehending criminals and their accomplices.
Major General Azhar Waqas, DG Rangers Sindh, reported on joint operations resulting in numerous arrests of dacoits and criminals, with additional checkpoints established across Katcha Areas to bolster crime prevention efforts.
Furthermore, responding to the president's directives, intensified campaigns against drug trafficking yielded the arrest of 308 suppliers, supported by the deployment of smart cameras at entry points across the province to enhance monitoring and security.
Overall, the meeting underscored a proactive approach towards improving security and socio-economic conditions in Sindh, focusing on both enforcement and community engagement strategies to achieve lasting peace and stability.
