Lahore influencer arrested for animal abuse after sharing disturbing content online

A social media influencer was arrested in Lahore after she shared graphic content on Instagram showing the abuse and killing of animals in her home. The arrest was made following a tip-off by a social media user, prompting police to raid her residence and rescue the remaining animals.
The suspect, a model known on Instagram as @dejaylazawal, reportedly posted disturbing images and videos of animal cruelty.
In one instance, she shared photos of a blood-soaked rabbit and other animals confined in small cages. Screenshots circulating on Instagram included a private message in which she claimed to have shot a black-and-white cat in the head.
Before allegedly killing the cat, she even posted a story asking if anyone wanted to purchase the animal, warning she would kill it.

Several users had flagged her account and reported her content. One woman filed a complaint with police, which led to swift action.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of ASP Shehrbano Naqvi. According to police, the influencer showed no remorse and was seen laughing during the raid, while her father tried to defend her, claiming she was mentally unstable.
However, no medical assessment has yet confirmed any psychological condition.

ASP Shehrbno said that the details of abuse she witnessed at the scene were graphic and that the influence shared disturbing videos while abusing the animals.
At the scene, police recovered animal remains, bloodstains, and cigarette butts. An FIR was registered, and the rescued animals were handed over to the Pakistan Animal Rescue Center (PARC), which later transferred them to the Wildlife Department.
ASP Shehrbano Naqvi emphasiaed that families should monitor individuals with mental health issues to ensure they do not harm animals. She also called for stronger oversight on the keeping and treatment of pets.
