President Asif Ali Zardari was discharged from a private hospital in Karachi after a 10-day stay on Friday night his physician Dr Asim Hussain confirmed.

The President was hospitalised on April 1 after falling ill in Nawabshah, initially suffering from fever and an infection.

During his stay, he tested positive for COVID-19, but recent tests confirmed his recovery.

Dr Asim Hussain stated that President Zardari was advised to continue physiotherapy as part of his recovery.

Speaking to a local news channel, Dr Asim stated that while the President no longer has an active COVID-19 infection, he remains under the observation of infectious disease specialists at a private hospital in Karachi.

Moreover, he had said that physiotherapy is being administered as part of the recovery process.

Zardari, now 69, has dealt with various health concerns over the past few years.

Last year, he suffered a foot fracture while deboarding from an aeroplane. Following the fall, he was immediately taken to a hospital, and his foot was placed in a cast after examination.

In March 2023, he went through an eye surgery in the United Arab Emirates.

In 2022, he was hospitalised at Karachi's Dr Ziauddin Hospital for a week to treat a chest infection. His physician, Dr Asim Hussain, reassured the public about Zardari's health via social media.

Later that year, in July, Zardari tested positive for COVID-19 but experienced only mild symptoms, according to his son, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

In the previous year, Zardari was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi due to exhaustion and exertion caused by his frequent travels.
