The ongoing probe into the death of SP Adeel Akbar, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances earlier this month, has declared that evidence does not suggest he took his own life.
Lately, the federal government has formed a three-member investigation committee to probe the death of Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar, who reportedly committed suicide in his vehicle near a hotel in Islamabad on Thursday.
Sources revealed that the inquiry panel investigating the death of SP Adeel Akbar has finalized its report and reviewed the post-mortem findings, which confirm that the officer died from a gunshot wound to the face.
During the investigation, the committee recorded statements from the SP’s wireless operator, driver, and other staff members, as well as the psychiatrist who had been treating him. According to sources, the late officer had visited his doctor twice before the incident.
However, investigators found no evidence supporting suicide, raising further questions about the circumstances of his death.
The inquiry committee is set to submit its findings to Islamabad Inspector General (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi today. The IGP will subsequently forward the report, along with his recommendations, to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for further action.
