Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to remain absent from the All Party conference on the Palestine issue, set to be held on Monday (today) at Aiwan-e-Sadar in Islamabad.
The multi-party conference is being held to mark solidarity with the Palestinian people and will be jointly chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari.
Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar confirmed that the opposition party will not attend the conference as the “top brass of PTI is not in Islamabad at the time”.
The party decision surfaced at the time when PTI workers were being arrested in federal territory.
On Sunday, the Islamabad police arrested 1,000 PTI supporters, including around two dozen of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa policemen.
However, the APC was called when the nation was observing the Solidarity Day with Palestinian people to condemn the Israeli brutalities in Gaza.
Prior to announcing the meeting, the premier met political parties, including PPP, JI, and JUI, who all had expressed consensus to observe Solidarity Day and hold APC.
Chairman PPP welcomed APC on Palestine and said, “The whole country must speak with one voice against the imperialist's Zionist agenda.”
Apart from this, nationwide rallies and seminars will be held to highlight atrocities being committed by Israeli forces against unarmed Palestinians.
