Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show-cause notice to its lawmaker, Sher Afzal Marwat, for making irresponsible statements regarding the party leadership.
The notice, signed by the Secretary-General Omar Ayub Khan, highlighted that such remarks have harmed the party's reputation.
"You [Marwat] have issued irresponsible statements that harmed the party's reputation and interests despite being given clear instructions by founder Imran Khan," the notice read.
It further stated that the PTI lawmaker's actions and words have damaged relations with fellow party members and stakeholders.
Imran Khan’s party has requested an explanation from Marwat within three days.
According to the notice, failure to provide a satisfactory response within the specified timeframe will result in further disciplinary measures.
Recently, the PTI lawmaker sparked controversy with statements that were later denounced by his own party leaders.
He accused the US and Saudi Arabia of conspiring to overthrow the PTI government. While PTI publicly distanced itself from his remarks.
Later, the outspoken PTI leader maintained that it was his personal opinion and he stood by it.
The lawyer-cum-poltician later alleged that certain members of his party were conspiring to have him expelled by manipulating Imran Khan against him.
He claimed that Shibli Faraz informed the PTI founder that the Saudi Ambassador was displeased with his appointment to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), leading to his withdrawal from the position.
Speaking to journalists in Rawalpindi, Sher Afzal Marwat accused Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz of obstructing his meeting with Khan.
Reacting to his statement, Omar Ayub removed Marwat from the party's core and political committees on the instructions of Imran Khan.
