PTI lawyer Faisal Chaudhry arrested for 'abusing' Adiala Jail official

Police arrested Faisal Chaudhry, the lawyer for PTI founder Imran Khan, on Friday for allegedly hurling abusive language at an Adiala jail officer.

The incident occurred a day earlier when Chaudhry was denied permission to meet the former premier, who has been incarcerated since August 2023.

Sources confirmed that police arrived at Adiala jail’s check post after Chaudhry attempted to enter the prison.

He was arrested for using derogatory language against Assistant Superintendent Imran Riaz. Police stated that Chaudhry was formally arrested and shifted to the jail’s check post.

Speaking to the media outside the jail, Chaudhry criticized the issuance of a notice for the incident, which he said occurred at the internal gate.

He claimed that he had sent a court order to the jail superintendent via WhatsApp and that his only fault was relaying Imran Khan's message publicly.

A video obtained by Geo News shows Chaudhry engaged in a heated exchange with Riaz, questioning why he was stopped from entering.

Following the altercation, Chaudhry filed a complaint against the jail administration, accusing them of harassment.

Imran Khan, who was sentenced in the Toshakhana case, has faced multiple legal challenges since his ousting in April 2022.
