Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to form a coalition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Parliamentarians (PTI-P) as per the instructions of party founder Imran Khan, sources within the party confirmed on Thursday.

According to sources, the decision to ally with PTI-P came after JI refused PTI's offer to form a coalition government in KP.

A day earlier, JI had excused itself from forming a coalition government with PTI in KP, citing that the latter "backtracked from its position at the last minute".

Sources said the first huddle to strike an agreement between the two rival parties was also concluded last night.

PTI founder Imran Khan has also given the green light to make an alliance with Pervaiz Khattak's PTI-P, sources added.

Earlier today, PTI has nominated Asad Qaiser's brother Hakimullah for Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly.

On Tuesday, Imran Khan had put his support behind Ali Amin Gandapur as his party's candidate for KP chief minister.

It is pertinent to mention here that PTI clinched a landslide victory in KP as the independent candidates have taken the majority in the province.

PTI-backed independent candidates have secured victory on 91 seats, becoming a major political party to form a government. However, PTI-P managed to secure only seats in KP.

In July last year, Pervaiz Khattak had formed PTI-P after parting ways with his close aide Imran Khan and his party following May 9 riots.
