Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters lashed out at celebrities and social media influencers for participating in a campaign promoting the initial hundred days of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's performance in Punjab.
Recently, several celebrities shared their views on the 100 days of performance in Punjab, with each celebrity highlighting and appreciating a specific initiative in a video.
As soon as these videos surfaced on social media, PTI supporters criticised the celebrities for falsely endorsing Punjab government initiatives and participating in what they claimed was “a paid campaign.”
Renowned biker and vlogger Abrar Hassan claimed in a video that celebrities and social media influencers will create videos praising Punjab government initiatives as part of "a paid campaign.
“Those who made the videos were reportedly paid a very generous sum. It is ethically wrong, considering the high taxes the public pays while the government spends money on social media campaigns," he said.

Celebrities such as Saba Faisal, Ayesha Omer, Zhalay Sarhadi, Sanam Saeed, Saboor Aly, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Yasir Hussain, Areeba Habib, and others praised initiatives for women's and minority rights, as well as developments in the agricultural and health sectors in Punjab, spearheaded by CM Maryam.
YouTuber Junaid Akram also faced backlash for sharing a vlog on his YouTube channel, appreciating the Punjab government’s performance.
In response to celebrities and influencers praising the Punjab government on social media, many PTI supporters highlighted a stark contrast between these portrayals and the reality on the ground in the province.
They called for a boycott of these personalities promoting the government on misleading claims.
In a post X, pro PTI YouTuber Muzamil Hasan stated that the Punjab government's social media campaign backfired due to the public's negative response online.
"At least people now know that you can't buy your way to positive sentiment on social media," he said.

I think the 100 day digital campaign was a good exercise. At least people now know that you can't buy your way to positive sentiment on social media. No amount of paid promotion can sell a product the consumer doesn't like.

Junaid Akram tried so hard to pretend that his video on Punjab was an honest review by repeatedly saying, "I received data from my friend". Boy, everyone knows it's a paid promotion, & this friend is PMLN😂.

I wouldn't mind these celebrities if they had genuinely witnessed Punjab govt's 100 day achievements, spoken with farmers, teachers and the public, and then made a video. It was clearly a paid content funded by hard earned taxpayer money. Shame on them! pic.twitter.com/oDy8KCCJCp
