Several high-profile international and domestic cricketers went unsold at the first-ever Pakistan Super League (PSL) player auction, held at the Expo Centre on Wednesday ahead of the tournament’s 11th edition.

Former Australia top-order batter Usman Khawaja and South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj were among the prominent names who failed to attract bids as franchises finalised their squads under the league’s new auction model. PSL 11 is scheduled to take place from March 26 to May 3.

Other notable overseas players who remained unsold included England’s Dawid Malan, Jason Roy and Reece Topley, Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk, New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham, and South Africans Rassie van der Dussen and Tony de Zorzi.

A number of established T20 specialists such as Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Alzarri Joseph and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were also not picked during the auction. Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka similarly went unselected.

Among Pakistani players, Hussain Talat, Danish Aziz, Mohammad Zeeshan, Zahid Mehmood, Musa Khan and Rohail Nazir did not secure contracts. Emerging players Mohammad Huraira, Mubasir Khan and Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousaf were also left out.

Other overseas players who went unsold included Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Moises Henriques and Imran Tahir.

Franchises completed their selections as the PSL prepares for its 11th season under the revised auction format.
