Punjab's education department has imposed a ban on all summer camps in schools across the province from July 1 in view of rising temperatures.

According to a notification, educational institutions had only been allowed to hold summer camps until June 30, after which all such activities must be suspended immediately.

The department warned that any school found violating the orders would face strict legal action, including heavy fines and possible cancellation of registration licences.

Education authorities have directed all district officials to immediately inform schools in their respective areas and ensure full compliance with the new instructions. Special inspection teams have also been formed to monitor implementation and will begin surprise visits to schools from July 1.

Officials said immediate action would be taken against institutions running summer camps without approval or in violation of the orders.

Authorities said the decision was taken as daytime temperatures in most parts of the country remain high, posing a serious risk of heatstroke to children.
